Do allow the ladies significant stage time and walk alone during finals.

Dont allow camera men pan close ups from the contestants feet upward or have cameramen taking back views constantly changing camera views. Do give full front view and no fancy camera tricks

[> Subject: Fire Lu Sierra and Ashley Graham. Focus on beauty, swimsuit and gowns. Get rid of story lines and sob stories. Otherwise miss usa will continue to be a bore crowning average women who proclaim education over beauty.

[> Subject: At this point, we're practically beating a dead horse because it seems as though MUO doesn't even care to listen to what we think works best for the telecast(s) but here goes... 1) Put on an actual production! Be creative with the set design!! We've basically been looking at the same stage since Miss Universe 2015 and it has become SO tired. The last couple of Miss USA pageants have been so boring and that would explain why the ratings continue to tank. 2) Pacing is important. SLOW DOWN. We do not need for the 1st contestant in the lineup to be entering the stage before the other contestants have even exited the stage...and give each girl time to actually pose at the end of the runway. The Miss Universe SS and EG segments were so sloppy and rushed. TWO hours will suffice for a pageant telecast. 3) Most importantly, be FAIR! Axe the continents idea that was poorly executed at Miss Universe, it was bullsh** and so unfair to the contestants who placed in the top 15 on their own merit.

[> [> Subject: If the pageant listened to us, the telecast would mirror 1978's and everyone here would be thrilled, but the network would have no takers next year. To be successful, the show has to attract an 18-24 year old audience. A reality show with 1978 production values will be a laughing stock.

[> [> [> Subject: I totally get that. But I'm not sure it's working anyway. Ratings continue to decline and pageants continue to become more and more of a niche. To me, the best way to save pageants may be to go in the other direction and stay "pure." That would at least appeal to the existing fan base.

[> Subject: Honestly, the pageant is done and over with. With all the reality shows, instacelebs, Youtubers, blogging and endless musical competitions, pageants have long lost their way on television. There is actually no purpose as of why choose a Miss USA, to do what, when today's people have other type of role models. Pageant queens do nothing, really. Having said that, I believe Miss USA should drop FOX and go to cable where they will have a lot more input on their own product, maybe create a week long show with eliminations ala Drag Race. The 3-hour show on stage does not cut it anymore.

[> [> Subject: Just like the NFL and its Superbowl, or any reality competition. Each week feature a build up to a state pageant featuring contestants backstories then the competition. Viewers will then become excited to watch the Big USA pageant like the superbowl. If tastefully done, it can earn its respect again, no differently than Americas Top Model, X-factor, etc.

[> [> [> Subject: Exactly! At this point I believe the MUO's great weakness comes from wanting to be on a public network. Its 2018, nobody gives a flip about "ratings", and history has proven than you dont need these national networks (Hello, Game of Thrones!). If it has a following, people will watch it wherever is aired. Back in the NBC days I always thought that the pageant should move to Bravo where it would be more respected. Remember when Miss USA was on Reelz? Nobody died. However the production company the MUO is using is also lame. I agree with the comments about using the same packaged stage for four editions now in BOTH USA and Universe. Terrible. And last MU was the last straw by not having the prelims live (they were aired like a week later in that sad-ass vinyl stage)

IF we got to see a little buildup and drama then more people would be interested in following. And also they need to get rid of the "perfect miss" image. No one said they had to be perfect and that is why media celebrates when one of them has as much as a photo in panties.

[> [> [> [> Subject: You cant sell a goody twoshoes girl story and think middle america or 18 to 24 year olds will buy it anymore. Yes, she is smart, but she needs to be real, on the edge, have her own sex appeal , street style and image that every marketing company wants to hire her because the young generation can relate to her charisma. America always has room for another beauty icon that can sell.

[> Subject: 1) Bring back the isolation booth instead of headphones. 2) Bring back the military singing during the evening gown. 3) Have more than 5 judges. 4) Have the contestants walk barefoot during swimsuit. 5) Have the mayor/governor attend the pageant and introduced. 6) Invite former winners and introduce them during the telecast. 7) Show past pageants for nostalgic purposes. 8) No matter how cheesy, have the contestants do an opening number. 9) Focus on the prizes and show what it is. 10) Have a regular host (i.e. Bob Barker).
