[> [> Subject: I'm actually very curious about Arklatexahoma and would find it interesting to know more about this area. I KNOW I'm in the minority, but I would like Miss USA to be held again in a (post) industrial area or a ghetto.

[> Subject: More evidence... apparently the city is authorizing $50,000 for the pageant and a Film/TV license has been applied for. Miss & Teen held simultaneously?

Author:
Should know by next week if this is true.

They don't imply simultaneously, but who would want to go there and set up twice?

[> Subject: Ugh, i cant do these 3 star motel chains like Hampton Inn where there isnt any room service or decent restaurant in the hotel. Looks like we will be grinding in no class and no style accomodations.

[> [> [> Subject: You are rude. I'm not alone when I say part of travelling for me is having a nice hotel experience. Maybe you arent as fortunate as I and dont get around as often. This doesnt make me a snooty bad person. This attack on people who worked their butts off and get to enjoy the finer things in life is definately not the american dream narrative I am accustomed to. Sorry, I dont get into the "make your own" toast, eat a cold muffin buffet. Give me a restaurant with service, lounge and room service. You're probably happy with paying $100 a night for a room that smells like hotel room sanitizer. We all wont get direct flights into this remote location either. Extra will be spent on car rentals and more travel time. NO QIUCK WEEKEND GETAWAY. Then the franchise food joints over fine dining experiences, UGh!!!.

[> [> [> Subject: And dont be fooled. This isn't about selecting different parts of the country to acquire various american cultural experiences for the contestants. Its about the almighty dollar, cost to the Miss Universe Organization when holding it in remote locations. They'll pay much less for accomodations, venue space and food, etc. This for me is another sign of the organization dwindling into nothing by owners who see it as an unprofitable business they purchased. I have nothing against Shreveport. Im sure its a beautiful place, but these girls deserve glitz and glam in places like Vegas, NY, California and Miami.

[> [> [> Subject: Thats what I was just thinking. Maybe LadyBug didnt do any research, but Shreveport has many nice hotels. Especially the casinos on the river. Look into it before you book at the Hampton Inn in Texarkana. I'd hate for you to rough it in the wild...
