Well, not really. Or not YET rather.

But I think it will be a cool idea to make the Teen Pageant more relevant. And it will make the Teens more hungry for that elusive title.

Do you like this idea? Or are you opposed to it?

[> Subject: It just makes no sense. Because they wouldn't win - they need a Teen winner and a Miss winner. So it would just take up one spot in the Miss lineup. MAYBE it would make sense if the Teen winner was guaranteed a Top 15 spot at Miss USA her first year of Miss eligibility. But again - its a gimmick and would never last. Make the teen relevant by allowing the new winner to immediately cohost the pageant as a commentator...

[> Subject: I think they need to keep the pageants separate for lots of good reasons. But I could imagine something like this happening sometime, just as a one-time gimmick, like "Miss 52." They seem desperate to drum up excitement by trying things like this, so it wouldn't surprise me.

[> Subject: Thatís a horrible idea. Just because they won Teen does not make them qualified to become a Miss. The need to go through the ranks just like everyone else. Whatís next everyone get a participation trophy? I donít know whatís wrong with the mindset of this generation. Everyone is entitled. Also, what is the teen is 15-16.? doesn't work.. STUPID idea.

[> Subject: I cant imagine a 15 year old up on stage competing with attorneys, rocket scientists, and news anchors. It would be interesting, but strange.

[> Subject: No, I hate this idea... but I would enjoy if they brought back the format like old times... Teen winner automatically gets to compete for Miss USA on her year of choice.

[> Subject: The qualities that make an ideal teen titleholder are not necessary the same qualities for a Miss titleholder. I appreciate the teen titleholder to be fresh, youthful and exuberant, but want the Miss titleholder to be contemporary, sophisticated and articulate.

[> [> Subject: In the 35 year history of Miss Teen USA, only one titleholder I thought could have successfully competed at Miss USA as the reigning teen titleholder, Shelly Moore (97). I thought her performance could have easily translated to the USA stage.

[> Subject: Ancient History: When Miss Teen USA began, the concept was "The Triple Crown Of Beauty." Upon turning 18, Miss Teen USA (who may or may not have been 18 when she was Miss Teen USA) automatically was entered into Miss USA. Allison Brown actually came very close to making the top 12. Kelly Hu, who was 15, turned down the chance to compete at 18, because she wanted to mature & come back up through the state system later. The pageant then did away with the concept of Miss Teen USA competing at Miss USA. What I think should happen, should be that the winner of Miss Teen USA receives a "golden ticket" to compete once at Miss USA in the YEAR OF HER CHOICE until she ages out. Some years, maybe no Teen would compete, some years two or three may opt to compete. She could wait until her very last year if she wished. I'd LOVE to see this happen.

[> Subject: On a side note, I know we often say we don't think 18 year old can be competative alongside girls in their 20s, yet, just today I was watching some old Miss World shows from the 1970s and back then there were quite a few 17 year olds and even a few 16 year-olds (who made the finals I might add) against women in their 20s. It's mostly a matter of presentation.
