[> Subject: Although the timing is so tight, Iím glad itís being held in Reno. I like that city, been there a few times and I think it would really help the tourism in that area. Reno should be wider known to people around the world!

[> Subject: Been to Reno probably over 30 times in my life. It's not a pretty city. Not pretty at all. I'm sure they'll make the contestants stay jst a few days because there truly is nothing to do but gamble there. No sites to see period. Don't want to be a downer, but I know Reno very well.

[> [> Subject: Two words, Gary, Indiana! It was bad enough that MUO had the pageant in Gary, but had it twice there. Renoís glory days may be long gone, but it cannot be remotely as bad as Gary.

[> [> [> Subject: I'm from Northern California, so know the area pretty well. I think the best way to make Reno attractive is to basically skip the downtown scene and casinos, etc. (as PageantPearl said, it ain't pretty) and instead focus on the natural beauty of the area. If it were me, I'd have the contestants doing photoshoots at Lake Tahoe or the nearby foothills.

[> [> [> [> Subject: Alt. the casino strip is not pretty (actually quite deserted), coming from the city, I actually like that part of Reno as itís calm and laidback. But, from a marketing standpoint, theyíll need to think of different ways.

[> Subject: The article in the original posting is well worth reading. (https://amp.rgj.com/amp/3282370002). It talks about the tight timeline (yeah, what's up with that, MUO??) and whether hosting a pageant helps or hurts a city's image.
