Subject: History Was Made This Year

2019 saw the first Black-to-Black crowning at Miss Teen USA.

2019 is also the first year where both winners of Miss USA and Miss Teen USA are Black.

I'm aware that the reigns of Ashley Coleman and Lynette Cole overlapped, and the reigns of Marissa Whitley and Shauntay Hinton overlapped, but Ashley and Lynette won in different years as did Marissa and Shauntay. I'm also aware that Logan West and Nana Meriwether were Miss Teen USA 2012 and Miss USA 2012 respectively, but Nana inherited Miss USA 2012.

[> Subject: Affirmative action to itís fullest. Talk about diversity, what a joke and slap in the face!! Hypocrisy! An all female panel is not working because it only brings WTF results. I seriously wonder if the winner was preselected before because the results are such a joke. MUO and IMG, please go and read your social media comments, a lot of fans are disappointed and outraged!! I am very disappointed and outraged right now.

[> Subject: I agree! This is what you get with an all-female panel. No Miss California and Texas in Top 15. A complete joke! Worst Miss USA Pageant in history, and honey I've seen them all since 1966.

[> [> Subject: I donít think Iíll say this but I miss the days when Trump was owned the pageant. Although we had WTF semi finalists, the Pageant was truly a beauty pageant back then. Nowadays, itís just a crapshoot. So many beauties left behind this year to make room for her. An all female panel and the nerve of them to say ďdiversity.Ē I honestly feel that they purposely chose an all female panel chose to choose an unattractive, facially weak winner!

[> Subject: North Carolina now shares the 2019 titles of Miss America and Miss USA. That said, my home state was purely robbed. I see no chance at Universe with Miss USA 2019 winning. If she makes the cut, it's due to sash. Alejandra SCREAMED Miss Universe potential. Sigh.

[> [> Subject: And so agree (along with the pageant community) that Allie wouldíve been Miss Universe!! We lost a potential Miss Universe just to make room for her... disgusted..... seems like this will be the fourth year in a row that USA will not make top 5 at Universe!

[> [> Subject: This isnít a problem of race. A trio of Latinas or whites or Asians couldíve won the pageant. Itís a question of merit. Look at what IMG is doing. They have crowned curly hair dark skin contestants on many occasions now. DC 2016, 2017, NC 2019, Kansas Teen 2018, and CT 2019. Is this really diversity? Or are they afraid that theyíll be criticized for an all blonde teen top 5 and hence manipulate the results? Itís like weíll crowning the same girl over and over when there were other well deserving girls left out. It seems like affirmative action to me because they are purposely avoiding criticism by including a particularly skin group in the semis/top.

[> [> [> [> Subject: Really? Wow.. looking back at the 80s-90s period, we crowned a lot more attractive winners than the IMG era! Just DC 2016 alone falls at the bottom of the list! Even Terri and Mai were more beautiful... and Michelle Royer. I thought we crowned many stunning winners during this era - Julie 1983, Christy 1986, Courtney 1988, Gretchen 1989, Carole 1990 (more stunning than the dark skinned winners recently), Kenya also had beautiful eyes. The somewhat not as attractive winners may Be Kelli 1991, Lu 1994, NY 1999. But I still think they are more facially stronger than Deshauna.. and NC 2019..
