Subject: YOUR FAVORITE PAGEANT CLAPPER OF ALL TIME

We all have our favorite beauty queen who, for the life of us, ended up as a final night clapping casualty.

Even after all these years, I can't forget the inexplicable exclusion of PATRICIA LOPEZ (Miss Colombia) at Miss Universe 1987.

Patricia's sultry good looks (in a time when most delegates looked like 40 year-old unkempt housewives) made her a heavy favorite in Singapore for the Miss Universe title. However, she only managed to muster the well-deserved Miss Photogenic prize (above).

The irony in all of this is that she won Miss Sudamericana (South America) earlier that year beating out Misses Chile (eventual winner of Miss Universe 1987), Venezuela (Top 10) and Peru (Top 10). Chile's Cecilia Bolocco and Peru's Jessica Newton didn't even place among the handful of contestants at Miss Sudamericana!

We will never know if Patricia was excluded for perhaps saying/doing something unsavory or if business was the motive to keep her out in order to make Cecilia's victory seem more legitimate. Who can forget the heavy favoritism Cecilia enjoyed in her never-ending Top 10 interview with Bob Barker?!

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE CLAPPER OF ALL TIME (FROM ANY PAGEANT)?

[> Subject: Of course Cecilia Bolocco was going to win Miss Universe 1987, that pageant was all about her. The one clapper that stands out for me was Miss Finland 1991. Before the pageant she was interviewed on ET and I thought she had the face of a Miss Universe and I was sure she would be top ten and maybe the winner. Later on I seen an interview with the wardrobe director at MU 91 where he said, her wardrobe was tacky and didn't enhance her beauty.

[> Subject: I'll name one from each MUO pageant here. TEEN: Sabrina Curtis (DC 88) she was like a little Diana Ross to me. USA: Tammy Johnson (MS 92) if Ginger Grant had a daughter, this was her. UNIVERSE: Marcela Brane (ARGENTINA 98) and I am still in love with her today. Sidenote - I agree about FINLAND 91, too. Best blonde ever.

[> [> Subject: Miss Universe 1998 had a slew of beauties! Argentina's Marcela Brane was a STUNNER and I was shocked she missed the cut. Bonaire, Curacao, Egypt, France, Honduras, Slovak Republic, and Zimbabwe were also delegates whom I thought were shafted. Not a fan of Top 20's but in 1998 it would've been justified.

[> Subject: You know who I really loved? Miss Ecuador, Alejandra Argudo, at Miss Universe 2014. I spotted her early on and I was pretty sure I had picked out someone that everyone else was overlooking. But alas, maybe they knew something I didn't. I was so disappointed that she missed the cut. [> [> Subject: I'm so glad there is someone else on this board that saw the beauty in Alejandra. She was in my Top 15 and I was certain that in such a crazy year where pre-pageant front-runners were fizzling, she'd slip in and plow through into the Top 5 just like her predecessor (Constanza Baez) at MU 2013. I would have preferred seeing Alejandra on stage that year to two thirds of the actual Top 15.
