Subject: The one exclusion that shocked me was Rima Fakih in 2010. I wasn't on her bandwagon but she had a fit body and a gorgeous red Reem Acra gown not to mention she brought a lot of media attention MUO's way that year. In addition, 2010 was the "Middle Eastern" year for MUO: First Arab-American Miss USA, Farouk Shami's CHI sponsorship and Dar Be Dar Swimwear sponsorship, which was spawned from the plight the designer faced when she was in Iran. To me, all signs pointed to Rima winning (!!!) if not making the Top 15 at the very least. I'm glad she didn't win but thought she deserved a spot in the quarterfinals if not higher considering how abysmal the Top 5 that year was.

In reply to: No Name 's message, "Does anyone have any idea why Barbara Peterson, Kim Pressler, Shauntay Hinton and Rima Fakih did not place in Miss Universe. Did they not deserve it or were politics involved?" on 23:02:56 11/03/19 Sun

[> Subject: I am not familiar with the first two but I was not a fan of Shauntay and Rima. Maybe it was just general preference vs perceived politics. 2002 should have included Puerto Rico as a political gesture before Shauntay. Rima, no comment.
