Subject: Speaking of Amanda Jones, that reminds me of 1st Runners Up who did not want to win. The clearest example ever was at Miss Universe 1974 when you could see Miss Wales was disappointed every time she survived the cut. When it was down to the final two, she was actually frowning. She finally smiled a big smile of relief when she was called as 1st Runner Up (I think this was because she knew she was pregnant at the time).

In reply to: Old Fan/New Name 's message, "IMO, Amanda Jones and Judi Anderson were the two most gracious Miss USA's when congratulating the winner. Even though Fichtner and Sanchez hugged the winner, you could tell they were not happy. Obviously, Hayek was disappointed." on 18:19:17 01/07/20 Tue

[> [> [> [> Subject: Helen Morgan was 1st RU @ MU 1974 and won Miss World 1974. Helen resigned as Miss World shortly after her win as it was discovered that she was a mother; her child was 18 months old at the time. AFAIK Helen is still alive; she would be in her late 60s now.

[> [> [> Subject: As well as Helen did, ethically she was wrong. She already gave birth to a child during the Miss Universe pageant. She should not have enter Miss Wales in the first place let alone compete at Miss Universe and subsequently Miss World! Her eyes are big are big but didnít quite get her beauty.. donít know why she did so well in Universe and World.

[> [> [> [> Subject: Maybe she was trying to win these pageants. I haven't watched them... I presume she was one of these effortless contestants a bit a la Olivia Culpo... not trying too hard. A lot of judges prefer than over more of an overbaked patty. I would have hard time believing she did not work at all to win these competitions and yet ended up 2nd and 1st.
