[> Subject: She also played John Travolta's wife in The Punisher, which was a dang good movie & she was great in it as well. Although I preferred Brenda Denton that year, that woman still looks amazing.
[> Subject: I wonder had New Mexico won, if she would've knocked Deborah Carthy-Deu out of becoming a finalist at Miss Universe because I think she entered the Top 5 in fifth place, and Brenda bears a resemblance to her. Then maybe Spain would've rightfully won.
[> [> Subject: I believe Deborah Carthy-Deu was going to win that pageant no matter what. It looks like the organizors and TV staff liked her and had her positioned to be the winner. She was the lead dancer, was interviewed backstage, spoke fluent english, was regal, poised, and beautiful. What a Miss Universe should be. Miss Spain was annoying to me and arrogant.
I bring a message of Peace, annoying.

[> [> [> Subject: I think this might have been a situation like in Miami for the 2014 edition where a Latina represented the US and a Latina was going to win MU in Miami for sure. 1985 seems like that at least... or last year when a Black girl represented the US and q Black girl was going to win MY in Hotlanta no matter what...
[> Subject: I met Laura Martinez Herring (how it was spelled for years) when she was an actress and I worked at Telemundo. We were putting on a telethon and she was appearing in it. I was to escort her to the stage. She was extremely attractive, very nice and also very quiet.
[> Subject: As much as I thought Brenda Denton shouldíve won in 1985, Iíve always enjoyed Laura whenever she made appearances during later editions and thought she made a good commentator. Some of my favorite Laura moments was when she got scolded by Angie Dickenson for saying good night too soon at the end of Miss USA 1989 and when she assisted with the crowning in 1988 sporting a high ponytail to the side in a huge scrunchie
[> Subject: Laura also made an appearance on an awards show fashion recap as guest commentator. Very nice personality & her opening remarks included a statement about whenever she runs out of money it's a result of spending on "too many damn clothes." I was taken with her lightheartedness & also wilth her refreshing lack of self-consciousness by using profanity.
