At just 70 years of age, she passed away today with family gathered around. I am so saddened of this news. She had a small part in Meet the Parents; I remember thinking how great she still looked. Such a beautiful Miss America.

[> Subject: I've had the hardest time processing this. I had my photo made with her as a child (a few years after she was Miss America) and even at that young age I remember how beautiful and magnetic she was. I always wondered why she never became an actress. She reminded me so much of Mary Tyler Moore. Plus, she was married briefly to Robert Evans, the producer. All Miss Americas are special, but Phyllis was just so......Phyllis. This loss really hurts.
