Just to be clear, I actually like all of those winners, but I prefer the first runners-up.

[> Subject: At Miss USA over the past 15 years or so, the only times where I definitely preferred the 1st runners-up are: Ashley Durham (2011), Chelsea Hardin (2016), Alejandra Gonzalez (2019). There were a few years where I wasn't really wild about either of the top 2, so it's sort of a tie in my mind: 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2015.

[> [> Subject: Totally disagree. I just watched the Miss Universe 1986 pageant last night . I completely agree with the judges Barbara Palacios looked like a natural goddess up there- this is not to say that Christie was not stunning either. I thought Christy had the better swimsuit but I thought Barbara clearly had the better gown and interview

[> Subject: Ylianna Guerra. I think my favorite USA contestant last decade. And she was quite off that evening. That was not the best performance so ending up as 1st runner-up was great. I also love Olivia Jordan. But again, I am not fully convinced by her performances at USA and Universe. Still, Ylianna and Olivia is my fav top 2 this decade. And I just realized Texas had only one medal last decade, the silver by Ylianna. Nothing to be ashamed of but not so fine for a state where everything is bigger... not to mention leading all the Miss USA total statistics by a large margin.

She is regarded as a "goddess", but she just looks okay to me. Pretty, but just okay), 09 - DR over Venezuela (I love Stefania during her reign, but on that night, I thought DR was the winner), 10 - Jamaica over Mexico, 12 - Philippines over USA, 13 - Spain over Venezuela, 14 - Jamaica over everyone else on that top 5 (to me, she was the real winner that night), 17 - Jamaica over Colombia and South Africa, 18 - South Africa over Philippines, 19 - Colombia over the rest of the top 5 last year.

[> [> Subject: Wow, you and I are pretty much identical for Miss! Id have to add Brittany Hogan (CA 2005) because Chelsea Cooley had no business making Top 15 that year, let alone winning. My winner hands down was actually KY Kristen Johnson, but due to this being a 1st RU topic, I have to go with the pretty & decent Brittany.

In retrospect, I wish Brittany Hogan had won, although she was a bit of an odd duck herself. I agree that out the Top 5, Kristen Johnson would have been the best choice.

[> [> [> [> Subject: I think 2005 was a. very weak year contestant wise. Most regard 2006 as the weakest this millenium but I think 2005 was the weakest and Baltimore, a relatively unexciting, damgerous city did not provide the best backdrop. Kristen Johnson was the best looking contestant and did well... but she played it vert safe during the activities and that night. Evn her would hace been a major downgrade from Shandi. I think Britney would hace been a better winner, she was on and very spontateous that night but the gown choice... ugh. Chelsea and her Curacao answer... ugh... Curacao is not a coumtry and it does not have a president. Having said that, there is a certain intriguing and interesting quality about Chelsea, so I completely accepted and understood her win from a position of undeestanding how her win happened.
