[> [> [> Subject: I love this! People forget that she really made a case for herself when she won Miss Venezuela. There were a lot of favorites (all, for lack of a better word, very white) that she outpaced but it wasn't completely out of nowhere. Jictzad was extremely competitive-minded and in it to win it, and she delivered on that night. Global Beauties even (for a brief moment) put up a headline, "Venezuela's Next Miss Universe?" The problem was that everyone became so obsessed with her figure that the backlash started well before she arrived in LA, and she came in looking nothing like a winner. She needed everything to go perfectly (esp. styling) yet it was so clear Osmel had written her off. Thought her gown in particular was atrocious (she had a better gold one that she didn't use in prelims), but she had an amazing Fadil shot. She was very upset after the elimination but I think it was probably a relief to get it all over with. 2006 was a very competitive year at Miss U.
