[> [> Subject: LOL. Early 2000s is the lowest point under Maureen Reiddy. There was a major risk MUO pageants would be discontinued. 2001 being the all time low. 2002 at Miss Universe despite a very low number of delegates was the turning back point. Obviously not in terms of amazing ratings, these will not come back, but the renewed interest was then emphasized by the modern approach and then, emergence of social media changed it for better..

[> [> [> Subject: I really hope things will be better. But the early 2000s produced the most exciting editions. I loved that they had a theme in terms of sound scoring every year, my favorite was Ecuador 2004, Thailand 2006 is next. The prelim SS and EG music were the best! And letís not forget the opening numbers when they dance in matching outfits! Billy Bush and his South American dog fight yearly script is the only thing BAD from all those shows. And back to the topic, the Misses Japans did offer something different!

[> [> [> Subject: Don't jump the gun. Maureen was in place from 1997 to 2001. She brought forth the new image of women empowerment, logo, and it was under her that all 3 pageants became young and hip. She was out by miss Universe 2001 that failure lies with Paula Shuggart. While I can appreciate Paula her pageants have been horrible, she seems to follow the wind. And it's way past her stay, it's time to retire.

[> [> [> [> Subject: Honey, that woman empowerment led to the worst ratings for pageant. I think since MU 2915 MU a similar direction was understaken by IMG and we all know it is a disaster. In comparison 97-00 MU pageants come across as ok. You are right though that the atrocious MU 2001 was already under Shugart, which frankly shocked me.

[> [> [> [> [> Subject: Ironically I think Miss Universe 1997,98,99,00 were some of the best produced. Similar miss teen USA 96,97,98, 99,00 were great. But in this same period miss usa was horrible. 97 was stale, 98 was a confusing modeling show with par women, 99 was old women across the board, 00 no make up year yet the most party won.
