Subject: Although I've watched this crowning many times (including live back in 1980), I never really picked up on that detail before. There is a moment where Maritza and Shawn put their heads together that is quite moving.

In reply to: HIM 's message, "Before I knew anything about wigs/weaves/attachments/and so on, I was somewhat shocked how Brook Lee gave her farewell wearing a bun, then after the crowning, off to the side, you see her running her hands through short hair! I didn't get it and thought her farewell had to be taped. Obviously not. Later, I read she cut her hair during the final telecast that night. To answer the question, Maritza crowning Shawn is my favorite. Both being roommates in NYC prior to Miss Universe 1980, the emotion between roommates/friends, was real." on 17:30:59 07/31/20 Fri
