Miss USA is only a month away, and with more countries moving forward with their pageants, Im wondering which we might see not compete this year. And which will delegate instead of holding a pageant (like DR)? Its hard to track all of the info down online especially when some sites (like US Virgin Islands) havent been updated in YEARS.

[> Subject: A month to go and MUO's website is still under construction. Pathetic. I have always wondered why the heathens at MUO never created one main database of links to the state and country pageants on their website. All it would take is 1 intern to keep the list updated annually during normal years and in a year like this, monthly.

[> Subject: To answer your question: a casting call or a simple appointment of a winner would be much safer not to mention more economical for franchise holders at this time. If I was a franchise holder and my pageant hadn't taken place yet, I wouldn't waste my money on hosting a national pageant. The franchise fees are bad enough. lol

[> Subject: Miss Universe cannot happen. We in the United States have limited travel destinations and many cannot come here. I would not expect miss Universe anytime before spring. Miss usa and teen are risky at best but if schools are back and Disney is opened, why not.

[> [> Subject: Agree. Can't imagine MUO found a non-US host in the midst of a pandemic either and most countries are pretty restrictive still.

Imagine the logistics will make it harder for many contestants with some adding two weeks of forced quarantine to their total costs.

[> Subject: Every year some delegates are appointed without pageants and it is not 1 or 2, it's more around 10-12. This year, it will be more. And it is better than a country not being represented. According to Wikipedia, only 13 countries have scheduled pageants at this moment, so many more girls will be appointed. I also expect a lot of countries skip this season, so MU numbers could drop from 90 to around 65, and it is fine like that under current circumstances. I am happy this season will not be skipped. MU does not need to be this huge event this year, it can downsize.

[> [> Subject: The crazy part is that since MUO selects part of the Top 15 (and let's be real, briefs the judges on whom they want to win), they can ensure all regions are represented in the Top 15 without having to do all this continental b.s. on stage. Is it for suspense? Is it to give off the false sense of equality? The whole thing is bunk and eats up too much time, which could be allotted to those award winning CHI haircare commercials instead.
