Subject: Is North Dakota the Most Cursed State?

North Dakota's best results at both Miss Teen USA and Miss USA are two 1st RUs and the delegates that had those results were the same at both competitions, Audra Mari (2011 and 2014) and Caitlyn Vogel (2019 and 2021). If neither Audra or Caitlyn could reach a win at both competitions, who knows if North Dakota will ever get a win at either Miss Teen USA or Miss USA.

[> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: In my mind, Teen does not exist. So to me, Montana is most cursed, as I stated above. And as I also posted, I'd put AZ in that group. AZ hangs around near the top sometimes, but can't pull it off. Think of the number of times AZ has been in the top 5. That's rough.

[> Subject: I would say Georgia is a cursed state. For a state that always places and has had numerous runners up they can't seem to win either Miss or Teen.

[> Subject: I'd add Maryland as a contender for cursed state. An original winner in 1957, no one really considers that a win because she was dethroned within days. Then in 2012 Nana Merriweather inherits the Miss USA title after Olivia Culpo wins Miss Universe and no one considers that a win for Maryland. Two Miss USAs but neither are recognized as official winners.

[> [> Subject: I don't agree about Maryland. If that were the case any inherited state win would not count and Shanna Moakler proclaims herself as Miss usa 1995 as does the others. I will say of all the inherited winners, Nana was the most boring.

[> [> Subject: I don't consider inherits as counting because in the end, those MUSA's that won MU beat the others at USA. It's random on which MUSA becomes MU. Leona Cage won, but Nana Meriwether did not.

[> [> Subject: I thought Nana was a very deserving 1st RU and I was happy for her when she became Miss USA after Olivia's win. Actually, for me, I thought that Nana ascending to the crown was the only good thing that came from Olivia winning Miss Universe as I will always believe that Olivia's Universe win was underserved. I was also happy for Shanna, as I was rooting for Chelsi to win Universe.

[> [> [> Subject: It's interesting because I sometimes feel like had Shanna won we would not have even placed top 10. Shannon in 92 barely made it in but she was a bleach blonde that fit the mold of white beauty in the early 90s. 95 Universe was competitive and Shana came across young. To that point, chelsi did not easily win? And Shanna /chelsi is my favorite usa/usa duo
