Sorry guys, I just got home and it is after 5:00 am. I wanted to put the rusults up but with so much going on, I left the run sheets in the suite. I will see if I can get them latter today. I will say that kyle had to give up the champion cup and tried to escape, "BUT" we manged to have him chased down I10, forced to pull over and mugged on the side of the highway but we did manage to get the cup back,it is now safly in Justin's safe keepings, of coarse Justin got a little heated about Kyle trying to escape with the cup but we did manage to get him cooled off as well.

It was a great turn out with 18, I think there was a couple of more that broke early this morning before we started to qualify so that would have put us around 20 Outlaw True 10's and 15 Ultimate street racers and 115 index racers and many others for test n tune. We were low in the Outlaw Ten 5 class, many of them have been racing 11 weeks in a row and just needed to take a weekend off but we still had some of the best here which always makes for a great show.

Thanks for all your support and it appears that we are in a great position to have a good year. Karen Bryant, Manager of Race Relations for the US was here to do a feature on the Royal Purple Impact Race, so many of the photo's will be held hostage until we get word on what they will be using in the write up but we will do our best to get them realeased as soon as possiable. For those of you that are not receiving the magizine, you can go to http://rpm-mag.com/ and sign up today. It was a lot of fun and a super great turn out and all I can say is that I can't wait till the next one. Thanks to everyone and we are looking forward to racing with you again.

See you in the staging lanes.

Impact Racing, Bonnie Webb and Tracie Kmiec.

All classes are 1/8 Mile. It was brought to my attention that people were wondering the the Royal Purple Impact Race was 1/8 mile since it was at a 1/4 mile track.

All class's are 1/8 mile.

See you at the race's.

Subject: DESIGNATED PARKING FOR THE RACE CLASSES.

Author:
COACH
[Edit]

Date Posted: 09:20:02 05/27/08 Tue

Bonnie & Scott,
I am suggesting that we designate parking area for the classes, keeping them together, than having them scattered out all over the place will help the call outs. Designation should start friday night as much as possible, We will have racers coming in for friday night testing putting them in the corrected area will help for the rest to follow when they come in Saturday.
Putting them in the pits in the order that they will run, will let the next class know they are next to come. And so on.
[> Subject: Coach, we will do our best to keep each class together as they come in on Saturday, however; Friday night is a regular Friday Safe Street night and is open to the public for test and tune and we can not interfere with what they have going on out there. It would not be fair to ask them to get out of our way on Friday for a Saturday scheduled race. We will do the best that we can.

In a perfect world, that would be great!! but Friday Night will be pretty busy. I would suggest you get there early on Friday Coach and maybe rope off an area towards the Middle of the Pit Area. In the front closest to the lanes will be OT5, then next will be OTT5, then behind them Ultimate Street then all the Index Classes behind towards the back of the pit. After the gates close Friday Night at Midnight would be the best time to move if you need to.
Also the Scales will be open Friday Night to check car weights.

At this time we regret to inform you that we made a decision to cancel the June 14 Monroe race. There are many reason's that this decision was made but most of all, we appreciate the understanding from the Management at Twin City Dragway Jim (James) Allbritton. We will discuss this in the drivers meeting on May 31, 2008 at Houston Raceway Park and any questions that you may have will be answered at that time. As of now we are still scheduled for Twin City Dragway on August 23rd so get those cars ready for a great 2008 season.

It has been brought to my attention that there is some misinterpetation of the power adder rule. It seems that someone thought you had to remove the 2nd kit. This is not valid information. The 2nd kit has to be capped off or disconnected. Please advise if you are not clear. We want all racer to perticipate, we are not tring to leave anyone out.

POWER ADDERS:

1. N20: Any Single stage Fogger or Single stage Plate only. Additional systems must be disconnected & capped-off. Progressive controllers & timers OK.

Let me know if this is unclear and I will address it again.

I kenjo kelley am putting $200 up. The reason I put the bounty up for would be to put more money in the racers pocket. Gas would be at a all time high.so if I put $200
FROM KENJO KELLEY RACECARS AND OTHERS WITH SMALL SHOPS THAT MITE JUST HELP SOME. FUEL $1.89 payout $2500
now fuel $4.09 payout $2500 so if I can help a Little
I will. just can't give it to everyone or I would.

Great Driving Kenjo!!What an awesome pass by Grant McCrary this weekend running a 6.70 @ 216 mph. His worst pass all weekend was a 6.88.

Please say a special prayer for the Revia's. Jason Revia's son has been fighting some Liver problems since he was born. He was a very happy little fellow who always had a smile on his face. Jason's son passed away today at 1:30 in his parents arms with all his family present at home. This is a very hard thing for a family to deal with so please keep them in your hearts.

OOPS!

It has been brought to my attention that the flyer is incorrect. The winner should be $1200. This was just an oversight. We did not cut the purse. This will be an all run and the payout is based on a 16 car field. I have asked David to correct the flyer.

Thanks and sorry for the mistake.

Please let me know how I can get the Mags to you guys and if you have already subscribed let me know that also. It's a fair price of only $30.00 a year including 11 issues per year for your fame in print, so don't miss out. I understand you guys are doing the racing and that things need to be agreed upon to be right. But from a Track Operators Standpoint, A Photographer, Announcer and now a writer!! The type of racing you guys and girls do is the most exciting to watch there is. I have seen thousands of cars go down a race track of every type, make and model. With the Exception of Top Fuel, experiencing up close the feel, sound, smell and extreme power, This Racing is the most exciting to watch and surely be associated with. You guys drive the car, but I get to capture the moment! To be honest, track conditions play the biggest part on how the race will turn out. You could have the baddest M'Fer out there racing that day, but if you can't hook up and a 1/10th slower car can and be consistent, that car has a better chance of winning and for sure accumulate more points over a few races. I don't want to get too deep with my thoughts, because I am not a car owner or a driver. But I can say I see more competitive racing on a week by week basis than most racers. Anyway, you and your cars makes my heart beat fast and makes me smile! Take that same feeling and multiply that with thousands of people and you got the best show going for just NORMAL Racers!

Ok, I will drop it after this. Guys, I really thought that most people would have a problem with the fiberglass rule. Though it has been brought up, most of the talk has been about wheelie bars. Is there that big of a problem with this rule? Will no bars slow down the front runners??? Maybe.... But don't you think it will slow down the other guys too?!?! Let's keep things real here. We set out to give people a venue to race in. We have a large abundance of true ten cars in and around Houston, LA, and Dallas. The majority of the racers (if not most all) would rather race with the bars. We put the wheelie bars rule in to allow for more competition and to keep the field a little more level. Some say that money takes over when you have bars on cars... I couldn't disagree more with that statment! I don't know about other racers out there, but it cost our team at least $1k to go to the track for one day of testing! My car barely lifts the front end on a good pass. (only when I peddle it). I can run 80's with or without the bars. Kyle could, Kenjo could, Justin could, Garrett could (and will), the cavalier could, Chad Crisp could, Mike Croix could (and will), Wolfe could, Siggers could, and a few more. Where does that leave the other racers??? The 4.9 and 5 sec cars. The one's that have good cars that go rounds and make consistant passes?!?!?! It leaves them inconsistant and frustrated because they can't afford to test, break stuff, and burn up engines to keep up with the 80 cars... Then what happens is they just quit and stop coming NOT because they aren't fast enough, but because it is NOT fun anymore... We do this because it's fun guys! We enjoy putting on a show for the spectators! We enjoy seeing our cars on the net come Monday morning! We enjoy racing that guy that we know damn well we can't out run because come Monday morning when we're at work and talking about the race, we can say yeah, I almost drug his or her azz! Let's keep this series REAL and FUN guys! We have a good thing going here. Big Dustin ran 5.5's in Evadale and is sitting in the top 5! I bet he had more fun than a bucket of monkeys! We have a set of rules that are pretty liberal. They are obviously working. People are smiling and enjoying themselves. Let's keep it going...

Thanks.

It sounds like to me matt is just concerned the class is going to get way out of hand.First its wheelie bars, then its fiberglass, next thing you know they will be total outlaw cars (example:outlaw ten five cars, adrl 10.5, etc).
And yes wheelie bars a deff. a performance advantage, maybe not on a killer track but when the heat comes back and with the fiberglass doors and front ends -then all the weight can be moved where you need it most.I hope everyone understands im not bitching because youre never going to stop progress, or change.Just stating if you dont have a outlaw type ride in the next few years your gonna be out of the game.Im not sure if everyone remembers this class "WAS" called "LIMITED" street.Just one other thing and ill stop-lol-i understand the point is to get the car count up, but as long as we making exceptions someones going to build a purpose built ride using these "exceptions" and going to wear our asses out-once again not bitching, just a opinion

We had a meeting to discuss the rules. There was 25 racers there. Majority ruled that we would allow "SOME" fiberglass and wheelie bars. This is why we called it "outlaw" true ten. If there is really that much concern over these issues, let's call another meeting. I will just make one comment, the fastest guys are running 100% ORSCA legal with the exception of wheelie bars. After watching the video, the top few guys cars can run the same numbers with or without the bars.

We see thing's differently. And that's ok. I feel that everyone would slow down some. Or at the very minimum loose some consistency. you have your belief's. I wonder if you'll still feel this way in a month or two.

There are alot of tombstones of failed racing organizations littered throughout the country. All of them died the same death. I bet they are all thinking now "It would've been easier to keep the hogs in the pen then trying to get them back in there after they got out".

See everyone at the track.

Matt, you and I have talked about rules in the past. We both see eye to eye on everything. I like the no bars rule. I believe it levels the field with the front runners for sure! BUT on the other hand, those 5.0 and 4.9 cars will be the ones to suffer. We wouldn't slow down any and I really believe that we would remain consistant. Kyle would do the same. So would Kenjo and Justin. What would happen is, the guys running 4.9's and 5.0s would drop back a tenth furthering themselves from the pack. Unfortunatly there will always be "front runners". As we talked in the past, this is why we have spread the money down the line and created the points program. Anything can happen and usually will in a series. Take for instance Garrett Wilson. Him and Pat have a grip on that Vette now! They have prooved that they can run consistant 4.90's. I feel like they have as good a shot at winning the championship as me, kyle, justin, you, or anybody. Just because the field has a big dog doesn't mean that the class is crap. It just means that the big dog has to work harder to stay on top and consistant. Now, with this said, if we went to a no bars and no fiberglass rule, how many cars do you think we would have??? I count about 8... As you stated, it's hard to explain to tracks why you don't have a good car count. We had 16 cars for our season opener. The rules where laid out before the event. Cars showed up, including you. And the field was fairly competitive! Everyone (including myself) has always compaired us with ORSCA. Well, I don't even believe ORSCA is true Limited Street anymore! Have you seen the cars they have over there?!?!?! With the shyty economy and the price to race these days, we have to start our own "local" program over here. The majority voted on what they thought was fair for the rules. Beings that this is a series by the racers, for the racers, we listened and this is what we got.
Please forgive me for being long winded, I just want to address these concerns. I respect you and everyone of our racers and TRUELY want to make everyone happy (or atleast content).

[> Subject: I am not trying to start a roit or anything so Im just going to throw this out there. What if we were to come up with a ET lets just call it 4.95 or faster and you have to run without wheelie bars for the remaining rounds of that race and at the next race. Lets say for example if you would have run a .92 at evadale with bars in the first round then for the rest of that race the wheelie bars must come off. Then at the next race they have to stay off which would be houston, and lets say at HRP your fastest pass is a .96 then you can put your bars back on for the next race at which would be Monroe. I think this would at least take a little bit of the advantage away from the front runners. I havent put much thought into this. Just the first thing that came to mind to try and give us slow folks some help. LOL!!! Plus I think it will add some excitement for the fans when they see a car with wheelie bars run a bottom .90 and know now there going to have to back it up without them!

The rules from my point of view the wheelie bars are a good idea for the guys that realy don’t have the money to tune there suspension my thoughts to running bars are so you can turn more shit on at the hit but then you get people with huge ass motors turning on 3 or 4 kits real quick that kind of puts the small time guys on a budget out of the picture but like I always say get next to me and show me you can out run me prove to me that your car can out run mine to the other end lol DON’T SING IT BRING IT

$2000 huge wheel stand repair. (which you'll only do once, if that ) or $30,000 (twin turbo's) to $70,000 (new 770 nos motor) to run 4.80. How long do you think cars are going to still come when they are down two tenths? Sorry for bringing this up. Most of you don't know I've been through this deal before. Only then it was called OUTLAW 10.5. Looks as if history will repeat itself again....

No Chad, that isn't what I said. What I said was how wheelie bars make it so people will have to spend many times more just to keep up. What would be cheaper, let's make up a average racer type guy, he's a person who goes high 4.90's with bars on his car. Car has a 600 ci. NOS motor. Which would be cheaper, Him (AND THE WHOLE FIELD)taking off the bars and learning through hard work how to make their cars work, or him having to purchase a whole new combo to go bottom 4.80's? With wheelie bars you dramatically reduce the chance of a mistake therefor allowing the slower guys to win a round or two.

I've seen this before, here's another example. Would you care to guess how many members of TORA still race Outlaw 10.5? (we had 37 members) 11. Why do you think that is? Could it be money? Towards the end, we could'nt guarantee the tracks that 8 cars would show up. I asked racers why, and they said that they had no chance so why should they show up? They were tired of loosing first round. They couldn't afford to go drop 30k on a new setup. So they just occasionally tested or dropped down a class. How long do you think it will take before that same sentiment hit's here?

All the loss of wheelie bars will do is close the gap in e.t.'s for a while. It will increase the possibility of a mistake, opening up some doors for the little guy.
If you don't want a more level playing field for all competitors, that's fine too. But you have to remember that you have to have something to sell. It has to be able to be sold to the tracks, the spectators, the fans, the sponsors and last but not least, the racers. If you don't have one of those five spokes in that wheel, the wheel will not roll for long.

I hope that will clear what I said up for you. There is nothing negative written here. If you'd like to continue off the board please feel free to call me. I'm just thinking about next year and the year after, that's all.
Matt Cook 281 684 8844

No wheelie bars will not slow us down, its a safety factor. Look at Hoyle and the East Coast he is 2 tenths ahead of most and they still show up. Yeah we all want to win and be the fastest but honestly we dont spend the money we do to try and recooperate it this is not a money making sport. If you like to win you do whatever it takes to. If you just want to race and not tear your shit up (wheelie bars are good in this situation) then its good to come and race with us thats why we tried to split the purse up and go down the line with as much as possible. Just my 02 cents
[> [> Subject: You better check your information on Hoyle. Go and check the results pages on the websites. Everyone is on a level field over there. Oh, and the wheelie bars are a safety factor? then what about fire systems, or double framerail cars......

wow...I see there are alot of feelings about wheelie bars down South also. My post wasn't ment to debate rules, but it is refreshing to see a CIVILIZED debate on a racers message board.

Last week we received calls from a couple of Houston racers stating no one from Houston was coming to the Denton race because of the 100 lb weight penalty for wheelie bars. One racer stated 7 or 8 cars would come if we dropped the weight penalty. So we did, and still no cars from Houston. That is why I asked the question that seems to have caused this hot debate.

When we were setting up our rules, I was taking input from several Houston racers, to keep Houston in the mix. When we voted on bars in our rules it was pretty much split down the middle. With input from Houston we chose to go without bars at 3200 lbs, but to leave a way for someone who wanted to run bars if they truely wanted to. That is where the 100 lb weight penalty came into play. As a base weight of 3200lbs, we discussed 100lb weight reduction (3100lbs) for no bars(my choice) or 100lb weight addition (3300lbs) to add bars. The weight addition won. Then ya'll created OTTA running with bars and that left us a little confussed. Then when we were told no one was coming to Denton because of the weight rule, well....

I think it is better for our class if we could have our rules somewhat similar in Texas so racers could run both venues. We seem to have more outlaw 10.5 cars (KOTH) in north Texas, and there seems to be more Limited type cars down South. As I have said before, I would like to see a race between north Tx vs south Tx...top 8 vs top 8. Anyway I am getting off topic.

All organizations that have set up rules in a restrictive manor have had to battle this delima. Technology and safety advances will always change the classes, but how much do you let it advance is the big question. I remember when KOTH was a class for $15000 back half cars. As far as wheelie bars go, I understand both sides of the isle. Personally I have never run without bars. The debate is safetey. We have a weight rule in our class. Maybe we could have a wheelie bar height rule. Possibly a 14 inch (or whatever) minimum off the ground. You would need to set up your car for no bars for best times, but still have the bars just in case you missed it. Bars could get measured at the scales. Just a thought. The more debate, the more ideas that come to light. Keeping the integrity of the class and advancing with the times will always be a struggle.

Sorry, I wrote a post that was longer but flowed better than this one, then my computer locked up and it was lost. Hopefully this makes some sense.

Subject: whats up with the board "message board " there are scattered post everywhere we need to address this issue the board needs o be redone it should be like hrg when you log into the board the main page is the message board and have separate links to view the rules and so forth

Congrats to Kyle, family and crew on making the cover for RPM magazines May Issue. I felt with the inaugural win with the OTTA and the support to the association it was well deserved. When the actual magazine issue arrives the first part of May, several other OTTA racers will have photos in the article along with the complete story about the race. My goal is not just to give press to the front runners and winners throughout this series, but to all the racers and crews that I can. It takes everyone to make the association and to be a team. Southeast Texas, Louisiana and surrounding areas will be known across the USA by the end of the 2008 season. RPM Magazine has 30,000 subscribers over 17 countries and growing rapidly. The more everyone contributes to this type of racing, the bigger it will become. I look forward to our next event at the home track, Houston Raceway Park.

I wish I could tell you but it is Top Secret! The Feature story and cover will be announced the 15th in a press release. I wrote a full story on the race and supplied RPM with 40 photos. I do not even know exactly which ones they used. The editor makes that choice. The photos I posted on my site were ones they did not use but I took allot of photos. I do know this guys, The OTTA before the season is over for 2008, will be known by all that subscribe across the world. The coverage that you will get will surely make the east coast boys a little uncomfortable. I will submit all that I can in hopes that RPM will cover us well. OTTA will be making a statement! You guys have to help me create good stories with your competitive racing and professional attitudes! The main thing is, my job is to present you professionally and to promote you with respect to the rest of the world.

Thanks to everyone who came out this weekend. Special thanks goes out to Jason Gipson and his father @ PBC Company for their support. Considering this was our very first event, I think it went smooth. Congrats to Kyle for his win and steller performance. Also to Justin for his runner up finish. You could tell from the first round that alot of people have really stepped it up this season. Kyle Huettel unloads a 4.82 @ 154. Mike Croix and Matt Cook's stock suspension camaro knocks off a mid 90 @ 153mph!!! Thermo Diaz's brand new fox body runs a 4.98 off the trailer with a small block ford n20 combo, and follows that up with a 4.97!!! IMPRESSIVE. Garrett Wilson gets his long awaited performance with a 4.92 and a 4.91.. CONGRATS. Justin rips off a couple high 4.80s and some low 90's. Still proving that he can get it done. Big Dustin goes a couple rounds bettering himself each time! Good job buddy. The LMR crew made it out with their bad stock suspended, ls1 turbo car. They made a promising hit with a 5.0 only to have a leak retire them for the night. Look for these guys to run hard this year. Josh found something....hehe Al Sneed's crew had their night cut short as well with engine troubles. They will be back stronger than ever! They are some hard racing mofo's! Don Dick made the pull from TX City with his 3rd gen maro. He is starting to get the true's figured out and is steadily gaining ground. Chad and Mike Crisp was there with their beautiful camaro. Rumor has it that this ride is already prooved that it can run some 80's. I think wheel speed got the best of'em this weekend, but don't count them out for the season! Our title sponsor crew, Jason Gipson, has been fighting the new engine blues. This truck is a proven 5.0 ride (with a single carb) but has since added a 4th kit and a additional carb. 4's are right around the corner for this ride. Mario and crew made it out with the famous "goldust" chevelle. Word around the pit is this thing weights more than the dually they pull it with... Mario and crew are starting to get this tank lined out! It looked strong guys, good job. Our series lone "coonass" Gary Peltier had his small block, single turbo'd stang. This car has already busted into the 4's. I wouldn't be suprised if they knock down some heavy hitters this year. Mr. Michalak with his "pipeline express" chevelle looked strong. He runs with fast company so I'm sure he will continue to pick up speed as the season progresses. And last but not least, Kenjo Kelly. He showed up late with his newly redone 4.8 beast. New paint, chassis upgrades, and motor. New car bugs got the best of him this go round. Kenjo is a sharp fella and will rebound from this with a vengence. Thanks again everyone for supporting this series. It looks like we are really going to have fun this year. We will have runs sheets and points up asap.
