I also caught mention of his passing on the Rock Hall of Fame. I hadn't heard he died, and although it saddened me, I was happy to see the Hall of Fame saw fit to include him in their tribute.
I had the pleasure of meeting Dave at the REDCAT in Los Angeles when they showed the Monks movie. He was very kind and generous with his time. I got a picture taken with him, and he really made an impression on me.
Rest in peace, Dave.
