Thanks so much for the reply Eddie - In thinking about American record distribution, the monks would have most likely been on Decca Records over here, the home of Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, organist Lenny Dee, and lots of white-bread Americana artists, not a whole lot of rock n roll...the only obvious German connection I can think of is that Bert Kaempfert was on Decca (as was, by extension, the first "Beatles" 45 backing Tony Sheridan, also a Polydor recording). So when Decca got The Who from UK Polydor, they thought Townshend's feedback at the end of My Generation was a technical error, that was the mindset....I can't imagine what their reaction would have been hearing the master of "Monk Time" coming over the speakers when they first got the tape...One can only wonder - if a film is ever made of the monks story, this scenario HAS to be in it!!!!

Thanks once again, I am so sorry I missed the modern-day gigs with Dave, but am glad they have been captured on various videos. I was only 3 when the monks broke up, but music is everlasting, and for me it'll always be beat time, hop time, monk time.

Cheers,

C
