The afternoon of the next day and my voice is still hoarse from Monk chanting ‘Oh-oh-ohhh-oh!' What a fantastic gig!

For my money Roger Johnston’s drums thundering over Uschi Nerke’s introduction to the Monks on Beat Club is one of the most thrilling moments in pop. Last night The Monks reprised the Monk Chant – Oh, How To Do Now sequence, complete with crazed guitar assault, it was the highlight of a completely joyous show.

Many thanks to Gary, Eddie, Dave and the new lads for getting over to England at last. I hope it’s not forty years until we see you again. To anyone who has a chance to get to Berlin on Monday, do it!

We’re all Monks!
