Thanks, Dave and Gary for responding!
It amazes me every new day, how internet is making it possible, to dig out long lost friends, or in our case, read about someone`s past 35 year`s history and stories!
The "Monk`s" music and especially sound are still very clear in my memory! One of the most impressive musical and optical acts that I can remember!Never got what that "coockoo" song meant!
Yes, it had always been a nerve, trying to get paid at the CAMERA club. You remember, the owner-old man- always sat in front of the stage at his white grand piano, announcing bands to perform and playing DJ?
Soon after those good old days and the high-time of the CAMERA club, for some reason he committed suicide and the club had been closed.
However I have also played the Star-Club and the Top Ten in Hamburg, but the atmosphere and the sound at the CAMERA had been unique and superb.Lots of GI`s from nearby barracks used to hang around, there was a lot of`"smoke" in the air, it had been a must for all the local beauties to be there and I spent more time there than at home!
The name of my bands then had been "Chapter Five" and "The Bentox", we were local heroes, few years later became"WIND" and one of the leading "Kraut Rock" bands in Germany.
But as life goes, met my future wife, got married, we had two boys to feed and I had to decide to get a day job, in order not to let the kids starve.
Today I am still connected to music, however I only write music.I write country songs in collaboration with writers and artists from US and CND, because that is how it all started out. When I was about 13 or 14 I started playing music in a GIs only c/w band, performing at AYA`s and military clubs.
Hope to see you around!
Later,Thomas
