Just one more thing. People keep writing that the monks were either still G.I.'s or quite recently discharged (there ain't no discharge on the ground) but it's clear to me that by the time The Torquays recorded "Monk Time" (monk time? it's hop time) late in 1965 they had all been out of the Army (what army? who cares what army!) for at least a year.
Of course, I thought the name is officially (whatever that means & however it applies to this here) with a capital M like your average beat combo or rock band. But Brother Eddie makes it clear that there are capitals, that it's the monks.
I take it that Angelika is not das Frau's actual name. Ja?
Am I nitpicking? Am I anal like Brother Larry (with all due respect!) No! But I am an amateur historian of Beat.

I know you wanna know what my fave monk tunes are. I really dig "Oh How You Do Now" & "We Do Wie Du" & "That's My Girl" - that one is pure moronic genius, the best kind of genius. Yes, I love "Monk Time" & "Complication" & "Shut Up", the gospel according to the monks. But those other tunes really fry my brain (actually, my brain is already fried).

All in all, it's just...OOPS No Pink Floyd! All in all, it's a great book about a great band.
