The Monks sometimes get the occasional comparison to the "krautrock" genre for obvious reasons. To me it was always irrelevant, but a couple months ago I picked up Neu!'s second albulm. "Lilac Angel" (track 4) strikes me as rather monkish. Its probobly one of the few songs from the 'genre' (since when does music released from the same country get its own broad uber-inclusive label from critics?) that can reasonably compared to a Monks record. I'd love to know if Klaus Dinger (the more monkish half the band) ever saw the monks live. Neu! 2 was released in '73 but this particlular song hints at where the monks may have been musicaly in, lets say, 1969 or '68. If of course they stayed on their original path. Just something I wanted to throw out there.

P.S. Gary, I'd like to thank you for not using any Blues chords on BMT. It means a lot to me, as it must for everyone else!
