The Monks' "Black Monk Time" is heading for The Big Screen?

Could it be true? Lets hope so!

The film about The Monks' story is currently in development with Moxie Pictures, according to a big write up about Garage Rock's resurgence in the May 11th issue of "Entertainment Weekly", entitled "Crude Awakening" by Tom Sinclair.

Here is the actual text from the article:

"Considering pop's current doldrums, it's no surprise that kids are looking to the garage for kicks. Garage chic is even spreading to Tinseltown: Black Monk Time, a film about the '60s cult group the Monks, is in development with Moxie Pictures. Johnny Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten) costarred in a Warner Bros. pilot for a show about a garage band. Meanwhile, L.A.-based legend Phil Spector is said to be interested in producing Detroit's Outrageous Cherry. How long before the major labels start sniffing around the scene?"

Also mentioned, in reference to Garage Rock, is CAVESTOMP!:

"Jon Weiss, copromoter of the Village Underground series and founder of CAVESTOMP!, the annaual garage fest from which it sprang, wonders what they're waiting for. "This is a very viable sound, commercially speaking" he says."

Just what does "in development" really mean?.....Boys?
