Of course I objected but since I was objecting to getting spanked anyway, it was ignored. It was never announced, but if Dad came into my room carrying that hairbrush then I knew. I was always crying before it even started, and he spanked very hard with his hand so he was certainly making his message felt. I don't know if he counted and I never really managed to, though I tried a few times. The hand spanking part was longest, but of course how long varied depending on how old I was and what I had done to deserve it. Anything he regarded as duplicitous or dishonest, especially lying, was the worst. Thinking back to some of the more serious occasions when I was a young teenager, I would estimate around 30-40 spanks with his hand and maybe about 20 with the hairbrush, but of course it wouldn't have been anything like that when I was only 8 or 9.
