As you and your boys are used to spankings, I think that would still be the best approach when you are travelling. Don't try to soap or hot sauce. If it becomes necessary, pull off the road and find an out-of-the-way spot. You might have to remove the car seat but you should be able to sit in the back and get the boy to be spanked over your lap. The other brother and other parent can wait outside the car until the spanking is over.

Another mom that I am friends with says that they give all their kids a spanking before leaving on a long trip. Most kids are pretty well behaved in the period immediately following a spanking and she says that is true for car trips as well. If the kids are having some troubles on the drive then she says they will spank again the next morning before leaving the hotel. She says that usually the one spanking before leaving home works well. Just something you might consider.
