Thanks for all your wonderful and detailed suggestions in response to my initial post. Special thanks to Tanner, her suggestions apply to all moms and aunties with special children. My sister and her son went with me on the camping trip, and it was a great success. Our special boy spent the entire three days in public wearing 100% girls clothes. The basic outfit was a pair of stylish jeans with decoration on the back pockets, a pink pull-over that buttoned girl-style right over left, and sneakers with pink trim and laces. We also provided a purple girl’s windbreaker for the chilly evenings. The outer layers were exactly the practical choices any girl his age would make for camping. To emphasize that he was going to be a girl for the trip we insisted he wear a pretty 34 A padded bra and lace-trimmed panties underneath. This created small bumps on his chest that looked normal for a young girl. His hair is long enough that I was able to pull it back into a pony tail with a scrunchie and a couple of barretts on the sides. We even had him wear pinkish orange nail polish and use a tinted lip gloss sunscreen.

We went during the week when the campground was not too crowded. That made it easier for him to use the women’s side of the camp restroom without too many encounters with strangers. He was reluctant at first, but his mom pointed out that someone with breasts and painted nails would look unusual using the men's side. We went hiking each day. The people who we met on the trails took no special notice of my special girl, which was what I assured him would be the case.

He had been apprehensive on the way to the campsite. On the ride home he was relaxed and even talked about doing something like this again. This first experience being fully dressed in public was a nice step in his training.
