Hi Lori,

I understand your issues with being a child back in that era--I was born in 1970 myself, and I know how badly people who were 'queer' were treated and viewed by society in general.

I did most of my dressing as a teenager, and I know that even in the mid-80's I was worried about others finding out and how it would be taken. During those days, it wasn't just embarrassment or names thrown at you, you could get seriously hurt by some of the bigots that were around.

Now, society is getting better about variations in gender and viewing those people who don't conform to the ideas that they think match the genitals between their legs. As each generation matures, acceptance and understanding improves. I'm sorry to hear about how your family has been about your situation, not to mention your neighbors. Do realize that there are plenty of people out in the world who could care less--my wife and I have a best friend who is MtF transsexual, she's a wonderfully nice lady.

Best wishes,
Richard
