Jimmy got word today he might, it is only the doctor’s opinion until after he takes a biopsy, that he has cancer on his larynx. They are putting a trach in on Monday. With his blood not being able to clot this is the safest way. They want to put that in so they can safely get a biopsy. If they were to just cut into his throat he would die on the table. With the trach, there will be minimal blood loss, that he cannot afford to loose, and he would need a transfusion. The trach will need to stay in for a few months. If there are no additional problems they will just remove it. He said also, if they would for any reason need to reenter the area, they would enter thru the trake. He said he has what they call a dead tumor. And it is very big. He doesn’t know how Jimmy can swallow anything or not have problems breathing. He doesn’t do well with swallowing. Even water hurts, but he tries. The doctor said if untreated within two weeks he could suffocate. The tumor would be so big it would shut off airways. The doctor said causes are heavy smokers & heavy drinkers. Jimmy doesn’t do either one!
I’ll tell ya Mike he went down hill fast. He probably weighs 150 lbs. now. He did weigh 250.
