Teenage Discipline

Vera, you said you were required to witness the canings. Did you treat the
boys after the punishment. Did any require an overnight stay in the
infirmry with you applying a lotion to there sore buttocks from time to time.

I am a principal at a private school where corporal punishment is used as a disciplinary sanction, i.e. students can be disciplined by being spanked or paddled. By sending their child to the school parents agree to the possibility of corporal punishment being administered so we have parental support for this type of discipline.

Most students I have to paddle are a little embarrassed by the punishment, they are being spanked after all, but the majority are, I know, also spanked at home so most just try and take their punishment as best they can.

Subject: Judicial caning of boys

I've read that in some countries up to a few years ago they had judicial canings of teen boys instead of prison since they were under age. I read that this was common in South Africa where thousands of boys were sentenced to canings every year for criminal offences. This consisted of the boy being held or tied and whipped with a cane on his naked buttocks with the number of strokes ordered by the court.
Does anyone know anything about this?
