Subject: John Travolta wearing a toupee

Just saw John on the Super Bowl pre game show. He's wearing a short styled toupee according to my expert eyes today. Last week on the SAG awards he had a much longer hairpiece as well. It's not a terribly noticeable unit, say a la William Shatner in the TJ Hooker days, but it could be done better.

[> JT's hair -- Scientolo$hit, 19:15:01 02/04/08 Mon

Not a secret that JT sprouted tons of chest hair even as Vinny Barbarino in his boyhood days. Also not a secret that super hairy guys are prime candidates for Male Pattern Baldness. Kind of poetic justice. Guys who were the envy of other boys in gym class for their early physical maturity, muscles and ample body hair often are the first to lose the hair on their head!

It would not be a shock to me if Mr. Roboto needs to augment his pate in some manner.

I saw also on the SAG awards and he had a widow's peak hairline then, and now with the short dtly he has a rounded hairline. A sure sign of a toupee change.

[> John Wigvolta -- Hair Apparent, 03:43:53 02/06/08 Wed

Well, male pattern baldness runs in the Travolta family. I mean, look at John's brother Joey (google his photos) - he is as bald as an egg on top and has been for many years. What little hair is left is snow white.

I remember reading an article back in the late 70's that said John was so paranoid about losing his hair that he'd schedule regular head massages as to stimulate the blood flow to his cranium and not make his follicles fall out (which is pointless, of course, when you're genetically predisposed to go bald).

JT probably got his first hair transplant or weave a couple of decades ago........

[> He makes me puke -- Willy Nilly, 20:32:16 02/19/08 Tue

Ya know, Travolta is such a revolting individual IMO. That snakey face and attitude. I just cannot for the life if me see what anyone finds attracive in such a person. He is like a furry robot. And the whole Scientology piece. Is he from another planet or what?

[> Travolta -- The Pope, 10:39:23 02/23/08 Sat

With all the scandals in the church it's so nice to see someone abandon their boyhood faith and the faith of their Italian-American Catholic family and join such a good, solid, boblical and scandal-free religion like SCIENTOLOGY. His parents must be so proud. Not to mention extremely wealthy.

[> Going bald gracefully -- Macho, 10:53:18 02/24/08 Sun

If he were not so vain and so bizzare I doubt that anyone would even care. But he works so hard and trting to come across as so flawless and together. Personally I have never cared for him. There is something really creepy about him in my opinion. I get realy creeped when I see pics of him beside his personal plane...all decked out like a trolley dolley....or rather a "captain". Why play dress-up when you're flying your own private plane? That seems so coo-coo. To each his own but wig or no wig he's one strange bird. Perhaps he doe snot understand where acting starts and stops, and where just being a person begins.

Every time I see JT I just wanna change the channel. SO controlled, so robotic, so plastic. How could anyone in their right mind think of "doing him"? Bleeeeehhhhhh :-(

[> John Travoltoupee -- Wiggy Spotter, 23:03:26 04/02/08 Wed

The whole Scientology fetish creeps me out completely. I could care less what religious beliefs a person has or does not have. But I make an exception for this particular knuckle-dragger. He just seems in my opinion to be a fake. Sure, as an actor he knows his trade and does a good job. But on talk shows, during interviews and any time he is not totally in control he just reverts to this robotic, bizarre persona. He really gives me the creeps. I doubt that I am alone on this.

Ditto. He seems way too much "in-control" off screent obe authentic. I tend to think its some sort of over correction to who he must actually be. I doubt he lets people into his life genuinely. He seems like the type to keep everyone at bay using his acting skills. Whether it's Vinnie Barbarino or the great Scientology promoter, it all seems so contrived to me.

[> [> [> What a strange man -- Donald Knotts, 07:44:57 09/15/09 Tue

There seemed to be some sympathy for him when his 16 y/o son died suddenly. But that was a stretch since we saw not a stiff uppper lip but a stiff, emotionless persona. Aside from the tragedy, I sense that many people just consider him strange. Maybe not Michael Jackson strange. But strange. No one should be attacked for sincerely held religious beliefs or even the lack thereof. And no one can read his heart and mind. But to watch him being interviewed I invariably feel that he is just so robotic. In front of the cameras he does great work. He acts well. Hard not to see the rest of his life as one big act as well. Like many actors he is charitable. That is not always altruistic. Would YOU want to pay income tax on bazillions of dollars? They don't either. So they give to charity instead of Uncle Sam. Makes a person seem so generous and belevolent. Again, one cannot know the motivation of another. But methinks the big incomes and the whopping tax bills that go along with that may possibly have something to do with such "generosity."

Ya think???

The comment about him being photographed by his plane in full (commercial) pilot attire just makes me wonder about how he sees his world in terms of reality vs. fantasy.

[> [> [> [> JT -- L. Ron Blowhard, 09:52:18 09/24/09 Thu

JT is on the news these days due to the Extortion trial going on. He FINALLY "came out" in court with the news that his late son Jett was in fact autistic, a fact he tried to conceal from the $cientology Cult, since they do not "recognize" autism. NOT RECOGNIZE AUTISM? What kind of morons are these people? Let's pretend it isn't there are it will aaaaaaaaaall just go away. They are as weird as John himself is. Imagine JFK Jr. donning a pilot's uniform when he would fly his plane. People would have thought he was insane. JT does it, and it's a photo op and no one thinks twice. Why? Cause people have come to see him as a very strange person. And strange people do strange things.

[> Mr Weirdo -- Dr. Phil McCraken, 11:07:10 11/09/09 Mon

"In his first interview since son Jett's tragic death last January, Scientologist John Travolta says he and his family are relying on almost daily religious counseling sessions to help them cope."

http://www.usmagazine.com/celebritynews/news/scientologist-john-travl-2009911

DAILY RELIGIOUS COUNSELING? DAILY? They have to be joking.

Anyone can understand how the loss of a child could be devastating. But now try to imagine this:

1) Being part of a religion that does not recognize Autism.

2) Having an Autistic son and keeping his condition a secret.

3) And the son dies because your religion and your brain come into conflict.

I can see him needing SOME help to get through the loss. But DAILY COUNSELING? BY THE SAME PEOPLE WHOSE TEACHNGS MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO HIS NIGHTMARE? It makes no sense at all.

The bottom line is that he is one strange man.
