Subject: Billy Masters reported on this in his column yesterday, June 1 ... ''If you believe all the hoopla - actor Chris Engen quit ''The Young and the Restless'' because he was supposed to kiss co-star Yani Gellman. I did some digging and discovered that's not the full story. Neither Chris nor the producers felt it was a good match of actor and role. The brass reportedly considered his performance ''uneven,'' while he ''was unhappy with the direction of the character.'' ... Soap Opera Digest also brought up the fact that rumors that Engen had been dismissed actually circulated earlier this year around February (around the time of his one-year anniversary with the show with people speculating about his contract). But then he was back, so some of this tension could have been building since then.
