[> [> Nelson Branco kind of hints at something else in the decision. Almost sounds like a blind item in the works... writing on 3/12: -- Roxie, 13:24:23 03/12/10 Fri

''So what’s the real reason for 2010’s dumbest decision? Well, reportedly, one of the actors’ unprofessional behaviour could be to blame for the firing. “Scenes were literally nixed because of someone’s partying,” says a network source. “Never have I seen that before. It’s not all Frank’s fault.” Still, why would ABC fire their biggest marketing tool? How many soap stars have held up production before because of their egos? Couldn’t something be worked out? Or did this storyline hit too close to home for certain execs?''

[> [> [> [> What Branco writes today 3/15/2010 ... -- Billy Douglas, 16:24:24 03/15/10 Mon

So what’s left to consider?

As I reported in Friday’s Suds Report, an actor’s partying got so out of control recently that scenes were delayed and later scrapped all together.

“We’re a lean mean machine,” says another insider. “Popularity doesn’t mean anything if you’re not professional. Frank is under budget because he runs a tight ship — and he wants to keep it that way,” defends a cast member who witnessed the production incidents. “He can’t sacrifice a show for just two actors. We’re already under a lot of pressure to produce all these shows in just one day. If not, we’re cancelled.”

Over the weekend, sources called Soapgeist to defend Valentini's decision. Now comes word that it wasn’t just one actor who caused problems — but the other half of Kish as well.

An insider informs Soapgeist, “[The other actor] was ‘not available’ on certain days, making for massive rewrites and rescheduling. One Life fought so hard to blaze this trail and now they’re being punished for it. Frank is too classy to inform the public that it’s his actors who cost them their jobs, not ABC. Once again, Frank is falling on the sword and taking the hits just like he did with Nathaniel Marston.”

In fact, One Life may have been in the process of recasting one of the roles because of unprofessional behaviour. A Soapgeist reader sent in this recent audition tape with Shawn Parsons, who looks identical to Claywell.

And let’s not forget one of the biggest red flags — Evans hinting that he may leave One Life last week when rumours arose that the actor was auditioning for another part. Perhaps, coupled with the hold-up in production with the other half of Kish, Valentini had enough.

Yes, it’s all speculation at this point. But the combined two issues with the two actors in question within the same week just seems a little too coincidental to overlook.

[> [> [> [> [> I have no idea what's really going on, but Branco has been wrong so many times now with things like this that I can't take him seriously. It could be the truth, or it could be Nelson basically making it up again. You can't ever tell with him. -- Irna Phillips, 16:55:56 03/15/10 Mon

[> [> [> [> [> [> The thing here, though, is that Branco's been an ardent Kish supporter - almost overboard gaga - so why would he dish something like that, which seems to put the blame on the actors, if there wasn't something to it? -- David Vickers, 17:29:46 03/15/10 Mon

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> Perhaps he thiniks he's being fed true info. The problem I have with the tale is if such a problem existed, we would have heard about it some time ago. The gossip industry and the internet make for a quick-to-air combination and something like that woudln't have stayed a secret for long. It's all misdirection...they just want people to forget the FUBAR they just did by firing the actors. First they blame them for their poor ratings, then it's their on-set behavior. What's their next excuse? -- Agnes Rayman Nixon, 20:08:46 03/15/10 Mon

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> It's true he's a Kish supporter, but he's an even bigger supporter of Carlivati and Valentini; good heavens, he practically hyperventilates every time he talks about Carlivati (who is very good, but not nearly the phenomenon that Nelson thinks he is). I can see him wanting to defend Valentini/Carlivati by spreading rumors that seem to deflect the blame from them. I'll even say it's possible he really did hear what he reported, but it's hard to say how reliable the source was, because Nelson, based on past experience, wouldn't take that into consideration if printing a rumor could generate buzz and draw viewers to his site. -- Chris Engen, 16:40:18 03/16/10 Tue
