Subject: Topper and Toggle Switch

I'm thinking about installing a toggle switch to my IGT S2000 slot machine. Although the topper is beautiful when it's lit and operating, while watching a dvd movie we would like the room lighting a little more subdued by turning off the topper without shutting down the slot machine.
I am basically a newbie and I'll probably need help from a friend.

My first question: Can this be done? I think the candle has it's own wiring so it might not interfere with the topper wiring and still work with the slot. right or wrong?
My second question: Has anyone out there accomplished this, and if so can you explain how it was done?

Thanks so much,

If you are trying to turn off one of the top lights I would pull the bulb out it.
