Subject: IGT Triple Bonanza Coin Comparitor

Recently acquired an IGT Triple Bonanza slot machine. Can't get the light on the coin comparitor to come on. As a result, the tokens just fall thru to the 'reject' side. I've purchased another comparitor and got the same results. I can't find any lose wires or anything obvious as to what the problem could be? If I keep the door open, I can hit the little button directly below the comparitor and add 3 credits to the machine to play at a time. Wouldn't that mean that power is getting to the entire coin mech? Might anyone have any suggestions as to try? I'm not much of an electrician and don't own a multi-meter. If anyone can give me suggestions on how to use one to diagnose an electrical issue I'll gladly go buy on to check! Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! John

The small cable with four or five wires can cause the same symptoms has a bad comparator. I have tested this in the past for continuity which show good but still cause problems. be sure it is not in the middle of a game. Also be sure there is no tilt or door open on the machine.
