Iím unsure of your machine type and manufacture but all slot machines have a switch or optic for each door. Door open problems can be simple or can get complex. Be sure all the doors are closed including the bill validator door which is often overlooked but must show closure.

The machine only accepts quarters and there are stickers that say Cal Omega and that it was assembled in 1985. There are 2 keyed locks on the right side of the machine that appear to be connected to the monitor/computer board. Do you know if this could reset the error?

I really appreciate your help. I am house sitting and they will be coming home Tuesday night and I would like to have it fixed.

Thank you.

I have never had to work on a Cal Omega machine but the door open tilt should be easy to clear. All the doors need to be closed and since your machine is older it probably doesnít have optics just switches and most likely only two (maybe even just one). The main door and the bill validator door if it even has a bill validator. There is no button to push or key to turn to clear a door open only the door switches/optics showing closure does this.
Sometimes as machines get older and they are in a home and not a casino people will often Jerry Rig machines. One of the switches may have gone bad and the owner simply completed the circuit by connecting the two wires. This is fine for home use but only he will know about this and may complicate you trying to fix it. In any case usually a door open is not a big deal and a switch or optic is just not showing closure. There are exceptions when a problem can be more such as a bad MPU or Mother Board but this is usually not the case.
PS: check all the fuses and make sure they are good.
