As for Claddagh, you have to remember that they are very well known for their teams. They won nearly every 8 hand at this year's Oireachtas. And they routinely place in the top 5 at Worlds. Also during the body, when they are advancing three facing three, there is supposed to be a "lift" or at least a "hop" back 2,3 as they retire. The dancers do lift or hop back at all. As for the advance and retire I am pretty sure the "hop" on the retire is a "style" not a requirment. Some view it as an embellishment best left out. I just rewatched and when they do the retire, it looks like they are stepping back instead of dancing back. Pretty sure adding the hop is one of those things that will get you more points, not less.
