I am heading down to Atlanta for the TCRG exam and am feeling very prepared for everything except the solo teaching portion. I feel confident in my teaching skills with my own students, but I failed this section the last time I took the test and am nervous that my style is not what the judges are looking for.
I am curious if anyone has any critique from judges to share. Any tips at all for this section? Any help / advice / dos and don'ts are appreciated!
Thanks!

- Humours Centre Meet -- ugh, 23:39:24 08/24/12 Fri [11]
I'm trying to visualize how the Centre Meet works... do you have the non-sidestepping lady and gent turn into their partner's place after the sevens--as is demonstrated in Olive's video?
I don't see another way of doing the movement, but I also feel like the book would have specified something as different as the lady and gent ending up in each other's position. (I will note that disagree with Olive having the two dance while the sidestep is occurring).
Any advice/insight appreciated.

- The way Olive does it would be considered an embellishment, I would think. Technically, according to the book, they do stand idle and the dancing lady and gent turn over their shoulders toward their partners to turn. However, I think that may be one of the changes being made for the new book. It definitely makes more sense for the other two to also move. (NT) -- jh, 23:38:54 09/05/12 Wed

Here are 3 reasons to take advantage of my "3 rounds for 3 dollars" special:
♫ The tunes are the same number of bars of music as your dances and end exactly when your steps do.
♫ They sound different than your other dance practice music with fiddle, mandolin, banjo, whistle, guitar, and bodhran. The arrangements are varied.
♫ It's cheaper and lasts longer than a gallon of gas!
The special is your soft shoe and hard shoe dance once through from Champtrax and your set dance at any speed, including the new Vanishing Lake and Charlady. You order them on my site and when you go to check out you type in the tunes you need.
Happy practicing!

The book does not say what Couples 1 & 4 do with their hands... I assume that Couple 1 retains uncrossed hands and continues down the center while Couple 4 does not hold hands and dances up the outside to switch places.

What types of mistakes are kind of an auto-fail mistake? What if you make a silly mistake when you are dancing one of your set dances and you stop and have to re-start, is that an auto-fail for that section? I know all my dances so well and have been practicing most of them for over a year, but just know that sometimes under pressure and nerves I make silly mistakes that i never made before and am a bit nervous about that.
