Mr. Nguyen Cong Khe (Chairman of Thanh Nien Media Corp, and licensors of Miss Earth in Vietnam), told the Vietnam Express that hosting the Miss Earth 2012 pageant in the country is not official and still under “discussion”. Mr Khe said that there are still talks with the filipino organizers of Miss Earth, and a permit from the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism must be granted. “With the difficult economic situation that the country is facing, every possible event and its costs must be examined carefully”, he added. During the last quarter of 2011, vietnamese media reported that a special amphitheatre was being built in the coastal city of Ninh Thuan, which would hold the 2012 Miss Earth and Miss Vietnam pageants. Vietnam hosted the Miss Earth competition in 2010, and it was reported it would host the contest in even years (2012, 2014, 2016). However the deal seems to have vanished. The mentioned venue, called now “The Coral Theatre” is being built at a cost of 10 million USD, and expected to be completed in August. The official opening ceremony to inaugurate the building will take place in October. According to Khe, the building will launch the city of Phan Rang – Thap Cham as a major entertainment destination. But after what happened last December, medyo nabawasan ng konti ang fascination ko sa ME, para kaseng it's a lost cause cos they never learn from their mistakes from the past, tapos yung iba dito jina-justify pa yung obvious naman na mali ng pageant, kainis lang! blind nationalism ba.

Cathy Untalan needs to be removed and barge from this pageant! She is the jinx of Miss Earth! Miss Earth will never reach its heights as long as Cathy Untalan works with them!

[> Subject: I used to defend Miss Earth, but I have to agree that I have grown tired of doing so. It's a bit frustrating but nevertheless, I will still watch it but I guess keep my opinion to myself until such time that I find it fit to try to reason out, for them...

No wonder, Thailand and Vietnam are no longer interested to host. They don't want their reputation to be tainted with the scams at Miss Earth!
