Richard H. Bauman, an actor and dancer who became a talent agent and a partner in a talent agency with clients including Robert De Niro, Bette Midler, James Earl Jones and Jean Stapleton, died on July 31 in Sherman Oaks, Calif. He was 79 and lived in Studio City, Calif.
He was briefly ill, said Mark Redanty, a partner with him and David Shaul in the talent agency, Bauman, Redanty & Shaul. It has offices in Manhattan and Los Angeles.
Mr. Bauman was born in Sandusky, Ohio, and became an actor in local theaters at age 10. He acted until his Army service in Europe, from 1943 to 1946. Then he studied drama at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He graduated in 1949 and moved to New York City.
He spent the 1950's as an actor and dancer and became friends with Miss Stapleton and other actors who were later his clients. For part of that time he was in Los Angeles, and he appeared in movies including ''A Star is Born.''
