I think Franklin was a great hire (especially given some of the turds being considered). He was a hot coaching prospect and it reflects well on PSU that we were able to get him. I'm not completely sold on his actual, in game coaching ability, but he is a beast on the recruiting trail. Recruiting is the most important thing in college football in general, but it takes on an even greater importance at PSU right now given the depleted state of our roster. Also, our division is going to be very tough and OSU, with Meyer and now LJ, is a juggernaut right now.

My only quibble would be that I would have preferred Bobby Engram to Terry Smith. I've heard a lot of negative things about Smith, including some first-hand interactions.

I'm already pumped to see what he can do with a full year to recruit next year's class.
