My latest issue of the WORLD WAR II ROUND TABLE OF CENTRAL VIRGINIA lists "TAPS" for JAMES A. KELLY, JR. The article states that Jim died peacefully in his sleep on January 7, 2012.

Jim was at the Chapter's last meeting on December 10, 2011. I always enjoyed talking to Jim and I did again that day.

Elsewhere in our Chapter web site, there are articles about Jim. He will be missed.

I honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we may remain free.

They gave their lives to make a better life possible for you and me.

Memorial Day is set aside to remember all those who gave the most,

Those from all walks of life, the young and the old, from right next door, from coast to coast.

To all of those who bravely fought with the love of our country deep inside,

I humbly honor each person with tremendous pride.

May they each rest peacefully knowing their sacrifice was not in vein.

And we will continue with hearts filled with love and pride to humbly honor their names.

God Bless America.

Thank you to a vet,

Greetings from the UK. I have been the UK historian for the 398th Bomb Group since 1971, I was also one of the founder members of 'Friends of the Eighth' (FOTE) back in 1973. John Woolnough came to a few of our meetings and was so impressed at our turn-out (we had 300 members by then), plus our enthusiasm for all things 8th AAF, that he went back and formed the 8th Air Force Historical Society. John always quoted FOTE as the catalyst for the 8th AFHS. This is a great Chapter and I look forward to posting on the forum.

Gentlemen of the 'Mighty 8th AAF' - you will never be forgotten over here in East Anglia - we still remember and honour the memory of 'Our Brave Yanks' - a million thanks guys.
