It's not a struggle. You either want to or you don't. It is not an attraction that you lay on someone. It is not a beautiful woman. The job is terrifying at times, horrifying at best. It will take your life if you let it. I work for a very diverse department, and not a one of us lives in the City we work for, 0 of 100 paid firefighters live here. Explaining to someone that they will walk into burning buildings, birth babies, stand on the interstate for hours on end cleaning up car wrecks etc. is not generally much of an attractant. It is truly a calling, not a desire or hobby.
