Subject: Synopsis of Jan 9, 2018 River Oaks City Council Meeting

The meeting started on time. All members present with the exception of Joann Butler.

First item was a proclamation and special presentation by the mayor declaring January as School Board Appreciation Month. He made comments about the new communication tower stating this is the first school district in Texas to have this although he questioned those who stated they couldn't afford internet, yet had iphones. He also stated having young children to raise it will be nice to allow internet use through a safe server that will be restricting what sites the students can go to.

Next item was the consent agenda. All items approved.

Next item council backed out of giving the property in the right of way on blk Truman Drive to the new developer. Legals issues being the reason. So parking and streets on this property will be handled by the city.

Council approved contract with Tarrant County Street Improvements for the blocks 1000 - 1400 of Roberts Cut Off. Those of us who drive that area no exactly where we are talking about.

Council approved agreement with People Ready Inc. for temporary contract labor for the calendar year 2018.

Council denied Marlene Sanchez of Atlantic Pacific Communities to host a meeting at the library. Council questioned what they were up to. nobody was there as a representative.

Council approved Ordinance 1175-2018 abandoning the right of way in North Carrol Survey A-2064 City of River Oaks and Tarrant County Texas.

Library update: They still need a few more weeks before they're totally finished. The contractor sent the wrong shelves for the new book racks. sent all lefts and no rights.

Next was an update on sewer and water improvements. Councilman Holland questioned Gordon Smith, Public Works Director, on why we have another bad water report. It was due to faulty injectors at the water treatment plant. Gordon went on to explain we will continue to occasionally get bad water reports until this whole project is completed due to old pipes and dead head areas.

Council discussed scheduling Strategic Planning Workshop to discuss what they're going to allow and what they want the look to be on the Blvd. I's scheduled for 8am Saturday January 27th in council chambers.

Meeting Adjourned.
