Synopsis of River Oaks City Council Meeting Feb 26

The meeting started on time. All members present.

First item was a presentation for a certificate of appreciation to Officer Robert Wood for going above and beyond the call of duty while helping a motorists whose car had broken down on the road.

Approval of the consent agenda.

Item 7. Consider approval of request by John Line to cookout in the parking lot and hand out free food and prizes in front of the business Line Printing Co. Council approved the request.

Council approved the 2018 racial profiling report as presented by our police chief.

Council approved a request from EMC Myrick to waive collection fees for picking up discarded tires for the months of March though April.

Council approved allowing the strip mall that has Dollar Tree and grocery store to buy part of the property behind these units so they can build a back entrance for 18 wheelers to unload merchandise. Currently they have to unload in the front parking lot.

Council approved the increase in fees for rentals at the Event Center. This was a quite lengthy conversation especially when you consider the debate was over a difference of 5.00.

Council approved increased fees for a monitor at the Event Center when required.

Council approved Ordinance 1220-2019 to allow the use of storm water task force funds for curb and gutters on Byrd Street.

Council approved Ordinance 1221-2019. This cleaned up the wording for alcohol consumption at the Event Center..

Council approved Ordinance 1222-2019. This requires roofing companies who work in River Oaks to pay a registration fee and annual renewal fee to do business in River Oaks.

Steve Sanders reported that the old trailer park on the Fort Worth side of Churchill is now going to become a 100 unit apartment complex.



Last item on the agenda Councilman Holland questioned the fire chief on the accident backing in the primary fire truck into the fire station. The fire chief explained it was real tight turning the truck around due to the houses across the street. He was then questioned if they had someone guiding them in. The fire chief said they had someone guiding them in but he couldn't be on both sides of the truck. When questioned why he didn't have someone on both sides of the truck he explained its because we are understaffed.
