Subject: Elect John Claridge for River Oaks City Council Place 1

My name is John Claridge. I am running for Place 1 on the River Oaks City Council. I have been married to my wife Linda for 34 years. My son Brandon attended Castleberry ISD and graduated from TCU. As for myself, I also graduated from Castleberry High School in 1978. I am a lifelong resident of the area for 60 years, and have owned a home in River Oaks since 1990. I also operate a small business in this area. I am currently a supervisor at Reher-Morrison, and have worked there since 1995. In addition to my supervisory responsibilities, I also work in their advertising department, which could greatly benefit the city in improving its image.

I have been involved in a variety of different areas in this city for many years. I was a member of the River Oaks Park Board for eight years, including during the Wooldridge Park development. I served as a citizen representative for children with special needs in the Castleberry ISD. I also served on a CISD committee which worked on the redevelopment needs of Irma Marsh Middle School and Castleberry High School. With regards to city involvement, I have attended almost all City Council meetings, Planning and Zoning, and the Economic Development Corporation since 2008, all of which gave me a good understanding of our city needs and how it operates. I also do reports on these meetings as River Oaks Reporter to help give citizens information and a better understanding of what is happening in our city. In addition to this activities, I currently serve on the River Oaks Zoning Board of Adjustments.

I support the citizens of River Oaks in what they approved and voted on for NCTCOG's Planning for Livable Military Communities initiative, which the City of River Oaks referred to as River Oaks Revival. I am working to change our city's reputation so it will be easy for businesses to work with our city. I want to protect our city's residential neighborhoods while working to bring wanted businesses to our city, including along River Oaks Boulevard. Most importantly, I want to be a member who actually listens to the citizens and their wishes, since it is our tax dollars supporting our city. Let us work together and make River Oaks a great city to live and retire in.
