Subject: Synopsis of Town Hall Meeting in May

The main subject on this meeting was presented by the police chief. He's formed a 501c to build an animal shelter on the YMCA property that is in River Oaks, somewhere between the baseball field and the horse barn. He stated the officers for the 501c are himself, Animal Control Officer King and Marvin Gregory. He explained all the reasons that we need this shelter. Currently we pay Sansom Park 6k a year for the use of the animal shelter and at this time Sansom Park is having trouble keeping an animal control officer on duty. The City of Fort Worth charges by the animal and it is quite expensive. If you go to the City of River Oaks website they now have a link to the Friends of River Oaks Animal Shelter where you can find more info and donate to the cause.

Next item on the agenda was James Myrick, Emergency Management Coordinator giving a presentation on current mosquito issues. At this current time the city has collected more than 1500 tires as part of their anti-mosquito program. Myrick also requested that if you have any neighbors with standing water to call him to help deal with this issue. He has several ways of dealing with standing water and mosquitoes.

Last item was a presentation by Gordon Smith showing the finished job done on Byrd Street. All curbs and new asphalt is down and done.

Next meeting is June 4 for a coronation of the new roundabouts. See you there!
