I saw some John Claude VanDamm movie the other nte about some American Fighter who was the 1st American to win some International tournament.Some guy named Frank Dux or something.
There was some good Martial Artists and i did see Mr.Bruce Lee's buddy Bolo playing his usual villian role,but it was hardly anything like Bruce Lee's movie classic 'Enter The Dragon',where we see many classic styles of fighting that include submissions,joint locking,takedowns,and different styles of grappling.
It is my understanding that Karate and other strikers didnot regconize grapplers as 'real'martial artists until the grapplers started to take out standup strikers in mixed martial tournaments that became hugely popular in the mid 1990's.
Bruce Lee was already studying grappling,submission holds,joint locks,and takedowns way back in the 60's during that time when Martial artists of a specific style would refuse to battle someone of another completely different fighting style.
During this Van-Dame movie,Watching two guys standup punching and kicking each other to the ground and the other guy standing around waiting for his opponent to get up is just not much of a true martial arts test for me or maybe i have just been watching too much of today's mma action in which current UFC President Dana White has called Bruce Lee 'The Father Of Mixed Martial Arts.'
