I have a different last name than the kids so that tends to raise flags. We have always had the kids' passports and birth ceritificates when we cross but if I am alone, they tend to stop me. Also, if you are taking anyone else's kids, you absolutely must have a letter from the parents in addition to the birth certificate. We got nailed for that one!
