Subject: Without a doubt the right girl won and she will do very well at Universe. So naturally gorgeous, at ease, intelligent and poised far beyond her competitors when it mattered most. The crown goes back to New Emgland with a first-time winner, a virtual patty-lockout in the final five...who could ask for more?

Check your local television listing for time(s) and channel for the weekday tabloid/news program Inside Edition.

Today, Monday, the reigning Miss USA, Olivia Frances Culpo of Rhode Island, will appear on Inside Edition in a segment featuring her dressed as the late actress Audrey Hepburn.

Some areas of the country, the 30-minute program airs twice.

On a related note, curious to know if any of Olivia's runners-up assumed the Miss Rhode Island-USA title in the two weeks since Olivia was crowned the state's first Miss USA? Any word who will take over for the remainder of the year as Miss Rhode Island-USA??

It is not a Miss USA state program....but you can see women compete tonight for the 2012 Miss Tennessee crown at this website:
http://www.livestream.com/eplustv6

Many of these overly-made-up women look like Miss USA entrants than wholesome Miss America "girl next door" contestants.

Airs only once.

Miss Universe 2012 is more than likely to be held in the Dominican Republic, in the captial of Santo Domingo, this December, if this is true, this will be the second time this city has hosted Miss Universe, the first was in 1977.

Magali Febles, the national director of Miss Dominican Republic Universe has said it was going to be held there, according to Global Beauties

But this is according to her, the Miss Universe Organization has said they will make an official announcement at the end of July and it hasnt comfirmed yet where it will be held.

The 2012 Miss Universe pageant will be held in December of 2012. The event has been postponed because in 2012, media in general will focus on the Summer Olympics (July/August) and the United States’ Presidential Election (October, November), so December is the date defined by NBC.

Subject: Interview with Olivia from Glamour magazine

Author:
Informer
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: Friday, June 15, 06:46:08am

My current obsession is: my Andrea Valentini purse! She’s a Rhode Island designer. They’re all really good leather projects.

The pageant movie I'm obsessed with is: Miss Congeniality, hands down! I could quote everything from that movie. I love so many scenes, but I always find myself quoting the scene when Sandra Bullock goes, “I really do just want world peace!”

My most embarrassing pageant moment ever: Oh my God, I have so many! Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. Seriously, state level and Miss USA because Miss Rhode Island was my first pageant ever. The morning of the first day, I slept past my alarm because I put it on p.m. instead of a.m., and I had to just roll out of bed and run to the interview. I was in a white dress, and I remember I sat in my car and looked over at these chocolate wrappers my brother had left from the day before. When I got out of the car, I looked down on the seat, and it was melted and on the back of my dress! My white, tight, tight, interview dress. So I had to run downstairs [to the bathroom] in this venue, and these girls that have been competing forever were like, 'Who is this girl?' And I’m sitting there blow drying the back of my dress--It was so embarrassing. Then during Miss USA, my earring fell off while I was answering one of my questions.

Glamour: What did you do?

I kept the other one in my hand, so that was a big mess up. Those two things were pretty bad.

My go-to pageant beauty tricks: I love Evian face spray because it's a really easy way to just freshen up your face, especially if you’re traveling on an airplane--I get really dry on airplanes. Also, just drinking a ton of water.

The song I'm listening to non-stop is: "Call Me Maybe!" It’s following me everywhere!

The meal I'm obsessed with is: peanut butter and jelly, and I haven’t been able to eat it yet. It’s so simple, but I love it. Glamour: When will you get to eat it next? Tonight! We just made the food orders last night, so my groceries are in the apartment, and I will have a peanut butter and jelly tonight.

The viral video I'm most obsessed with is: “Call Me Maybe.” I have really only seen the Miss USA one because I wanted to see Donald Trump sing!

My all-time favorite pageant dress: Well, like I said before, Miss Rhode Island was my first pageant, and I rented my dress for $20. There was a hole in the back because it was too small. It just goes to show it’s not just about the glamour, and we’re not all glamour beauty queens. It’s about feeling confident and being yourself.

The show I'm obsessed with watching is: Say Yes to the Dress! Because I love the whole makeover idea, and I’m a sap for love, of course.

The next time I have some time to myself, I'm going to: I really need a manicure! I think I’m just going to take a nap.

The craziest pageant moment so far has been definitely when: I won, of course. Also, when I was on stage before Miss USA, I was trying to do all these fancy turns because I thought I could turn on stage. Who knows what I was thinking, but I really wanted to do a turn because I wanted to stand out. I kept practicing my spins during rehearsals, and every time I tried to do my turns I would trip on my dress. It was not going as I had planned, so that was not fun, and it brought down my confidence really low. But it worked out in the end!

My current girl crush is: Angelina Jolie. She is breathtakingly beautiful, and I also am obsessed with Audrey Hepburn.

My first celeb crush was: Justin Timberlake from *NSYNC, of course! But then he started wearing that fedora all the time, so I just got over it!

The one thing I could go bankrupt buying is: dining and nice dinners, and also shoes. I’m a real girly-girl.

The most random thing I keep in my purse is: my Audrey Hepburn journal that I carry everywhere! I write everything in it. I was just reading this morning a note that I wrote on June 2, which was the day before I won. I was writing that we were meeting Donald Trump. I was really nervous, and I was so excited that I met Giuliana Rancic, and I couldn’t wait for the next day.

My first impression of Donald Trump was: during the media tour, and I was just excited to be meeting the person that made it possible for me to be there. He’s funny! And he’s obviously a brilliant American entrepreneur, so it was an honor.

What it feels like to be Miss USA: This is only the first 48 hours, and it feels great. I can’t believe that I actually won, and I can’t believe that I’ll be given such a great platform. I couldn’t be more excited, and I can’t believe I won out of the other girls because everyone else was so awesome, too!

I am very happy with Olivia's election as Miss USA 2012. She was my favorite after the top 10 was announced. Her answer was great she nailed it. Darn if she only had Amelia Vega's height. I still think she was the very best. Nevada was cocky and arrogant and thought she may have had it in the bag too confident. Maryland went very far. I am surprised she went all the way to 1st runner up. She can be a good candidate for Miss World USA. Didn't care too much about Ohio and her yellow dress or her pretty woman answer. She was pretty though. Georgia was a nervous reck I am sure she couldn't handle the pressure. My two other favorites Alabama and Oklahoma at least made the top 10 so I am happy with that. And now let's please award the Ruth Ocumarez award to: Miss California Natalie Pack. Do you all agree with me? She won it hands down.

As a native of Massachusetts I'm embarrassed that MA (and the other girls) couldn't answer such a simple question. Oh man. That's like pageant training 101 and you can't really come up with an excuse for not knowing. I also found MA to be quite forgettable in the sea of other contestants, and you'd think that having a sister who was a former miss CT would mean she'd be better prepared...guess not! I was rooting the entire time for RI and CT - they rocked the stage. Congrats to Olivia Culpo!

Top 5 this year was all dark haired, almost exotically featured girls with fit bodies and some degree of muscle tone, whereas many of the other typical all-American dime a dozen blonde haired blue eyed girls were cut. So after following the boards for years, moreso as a silent obsessed pageant fan, I decided to look over the pictures & info about each contestant, to start with my top 15 list. I'm only at Nevada, but so far, I have definitely noticed a few things.

*I only have 5 definites written down for top 15, & 6 maybe's. My 5 so far are Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, & Nevada. (California is more or less a given, & should be number 6, but I don't care to mention anything more right now) The sad part is, my 2 favorites, Georgia & Illinois, are both African American, & I noticed someone had commented earlier that there will never be 2 African American women in the top 5 of a Miss USA pageant. This really makes me angry, & in the year of 2012, if the 2 most deserving women can't both place well solely because of their color, then we are still living in a very sad & pathetic world. I'm sure my opinion may change slightly after I see them walk, & listen to how they articulate themselves, but so far, those 2 are at the top.

*I am already getting lost & bored in a sea of blondes. Being a blonde myself, it is nothing biased or hateful, I just haven't really seen any standouts. Most seem very bland this year.

*WHY have over half of these girls mentioned their modeling careers? For a few (California), I understand, but it seems like every other girl mentions modeling or being on some random TV show. I miss the days when the bios were all about amazing academic achievements, charity work, & traveling to third world countries. Every other girl today is a "model", the point of Miss USA is to be a ROLE model, & of course, the modeling comes with it. Miss USA should be someone who is photogenic & beautiful, but doesn't show that she knows it.

*And another thing, for whatever reason, the contestants that are 25-26 & still don't have a college degree, or mention "wanting" to pursue this, or claim to have a degree but don't have a job, to me that screams NOT MISS USA MATERIAL. Before anyone jumps down my throat about life circumstances, illnesses, reasons for not being able to attend or finish school right after high school, you are preaching to the choir. When it comes to Miss USA, everyone has a right to expect an intelligent, successful, poised, intelluctual, hardworking, beautiful woman. Not someone who has made it through life so far on their parents, random modeling jobs, & using their looks to succeed.

*I already don't like Texas or Tennessee. They seem to be trying so hard, based on their bios & candid photos alone.

*I am not a fan of the Pageant Associates & what they make their girls into. Miss West Virginia 2012 says she is "multi-faceted".. funny, Jillian, Miss Indiana USA 2011, also chose to describe herself the same way. Both Pageant Associate Pageants, both bios put together by their directors. & I just became so bored reading Miss West Virginia's bio, I just stopped. That jargon will not get you anywhere.

*As I finish this rant, I have also finished my list. Not even a top 15, but here are the girls I think will be at the top.

-Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, Alabama, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Utah, Virginia, Wyoming

-South Dakota reminds me of the 19 year old very tall blonde circa 2009-2010 Miss USA top 5, I almost want to say she was Miss Utah but I can't remember for sure. Her answer was absolutely dreadful for top 5, & she placed as either 3rd or 2nd runner up, & it was very apparent it was just based on her beauty, because she was an idiot. Basically, she is appealing, & I feel she will do well, but I'm not a huge fan.

*Others I just "like"- Mississippi, Kentucky, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, South Carolina, Delaware, Washington

*It's almost a given Texas will atleast make top 15, but it's just because of her beauty & her state.

Please feel free to share your (wrong) thoughts. :)
